After Ukrainian NVC trainer, Kateryna Yasko, was forced to flee the war-zone that was her home, she began observing the NVC community’s response to Russia's invasion into Ukraine. 

She said it was painful at times to see certain responses that were so incongruent with her own embodied experience. “It made me realize that the NVC curriculum, despite its focusing on human needs and compassion, does not prepare us well to respond to situations that involve extreme violence.” 

So she teamed up with an expert in Spiral Dynamics to offer us a deeper understanding of human nature, different worldviews, and violent conflicts.

Starting on January 26, you will have an opportunity to:

• Understand the Spiral Dynamics model and how needs differ depending on a person's worldview 
• Discover how NVC can be more effectively applied to situations of extreme violence 
• Build more capacity to discern when to resort to dialogue or protective use of force 
• Study the geo-political situation that led to the invasion of Russia into Ukraine

Evolution of Needs and Values through the Lens of Spiral Dynamics with Kateryna Yasko and Auke Van Nimwegen is a 4-week course that will introduce the Spiral Dynamics model and use it to study the evolution of human needs, values, and life conditions.

Auke is an expert trainer in Spiral Dynamics and worked closely with the co-author of the theory from 2005 until his passing in 2022. Auke has been aiding Ukrainian refugees in the Netherlands and using his knowledge to help create clarity about how important a proper response to this situation is for European and world peace.
