Preheader: [plus why I get called to the couch]
Hi %user.name_f%,
I hope you enjoyed the first session of Transitions in Life: Rediscovering Your Inner Spark yesterday.
You can find the replay link here.
Whilst I’m here, can I ask you something, %user.name_f%? …Are you like me?
Do you ever have things going on in life that seem too much to handle? You know you should be doing something on your list, but instead you find yourself curled up on the couch, with a cup of tea ☕, your cat 🐈, and a blue check sherpa blanket thrown over you for some much needed comfort?
Yeah. Me too.
I figured I wouldn’t be the only one so I’m just reaching out to let you know that you are not alone in this — I’m right here with you.
💗 Can we just pause for a minute and give ourselves some grace?
You see, when I feel Called to the Couch*, it’s for a good reason.
I used to think I was avoiding whatever was going on — but that’s not true.
I learned a long time ago to embrace that call.
It’s where the internal healing happens.
It’s also where I start my internal dialogue shifts from “I cannot do this” into “okay, let’s go!” (with a few stages in between).
That’s some pretty big work my friend!
It is internally productive.
And I fully embrace this step. 🛋️🐈☕
This is something you’ll hear more about in future sessions of Transitions in Life: Rediscovering Your Inner Spark.
As you know, we’ve had the first session, but there are still 4 to go. Over the next four sessions, we’ll be exploring:
- The three steps to every life transition and how to recognize where you are on the journey
- Embracing your 'lack' of productivity as you move away from your task list and into some internal healing
- Reducing your negative self-talk and move through the stages of a transition in your own way, with increased ease
- Communicating to others how you feel, and how to ask them for help
And as you might guess from the title of the course, we’ll also cover how to find your inner spark again.
You know, the part of %user.name_f% that feels enthusiasm bubbling up when you think of meeting up with a friend for an Americano.
Mmm. Meeting a friend for a coffee — one of my favorite things to do!
I have a new computer program to get my head around soon. And you can bet you will find me snuggled up with my cat, Olive, before I get started. 😺
Just so you know, this works for the big stuff too - like losing a loved one, or changing careers.
Here’s that sign up link again.
Hope to see you again next week.

*The phrase, "Called to the Couch" came from one of my students.. Great phrase isn't it? So good that it deserves the capital letters. And since it often fits where I am, I use it regularly.
