On a daily basis I am grateful for this community.

When Mark and I started the NVC Academy in 2006, we had a dream that we could share NVC resources with the world, in an online library — somewhere NVC enthusiasts could access NVC resources at their own pace, to deepen their NVC skills.

But the Universe had bigger plans. 

And WOW are we humbled to be where we are now: a worldwide hub for experienced NVC trainers to support and empower individuals, families, workplaces, organizations, and the world at large to have more fulfilling lives and relationships and better adapt to our fast changing world.

One of our goals is to significantly reduce the financial barriers to learning the skills of Nonviolent Communication. 

Year after year, we are touched by the generosity of our community for their contributions to our community support fund. 

And we would like to say a huge

to our community for helping us do this.

Over the last 18 months, we’ve had 173 requests for help in accessing a live course. And we feel joyous at being able to help all of those souls deepen their NVC awareness.

We’ve funded these requests through a mixture of community contributions and NVC Academy profits. 

We’re passionate about continuing to do this. 

However, we know the world is struggling under the weight of inflation. 

We see it on the daily news. 

We see it in our numbers:

In the first 5 months of this year, we’ve received 11% more ⬆️ requests for scholarship funds and a 61% reduction ⬇️ in contributions than in the same time period last year. 

And our course registrations have reduced, so our company revenue has reduced. ⬇️ 

We get it. 

Cost of living is HIGH. 

Most of us are cutting back, trying to make ends meet. And dipping into savings if we have them — though many of us don’t have them to dip into. 

The NVC Academy is sailing the same sea - we are also struggling financially.

Yet we hold tightly to our values:

• 🤗 We don't turn anyone away because of lack of money. This supports our needs for inclusivity, accessibility, and care for the greater worldwide NVC community. 
• 💵 We pay trainers 50% or more of all revenue for their online courses, to demonstrate our respect and care for their expertise and personal sustainability. 
• 💵Out of respect for their time and expertise, we pay our 12 team members rather than working with volunteers. 
• 💻 We invest in technology to support the growth of NVC in the world, which helps us support NVC enthusiasts worldwide. 

The NVC Academy tops up the community fund in order to meet the requests for scholarships. 

⛵ To keep NVCA afloat this year, Mark and I are working with reduced salaries. And, we’ve asked our team to cut back on the number of hours they work to reduce our costs even more.
